Proverbs 16:3.
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Cast all your care upon the LORD.
Roll it unto Him!
Entrust your works unto the LORD, and be assured of His supply, support, and sustenance.
Commit thy works unto the LORD who is able to keep that which is committed unto Him.
Learn to commit your family, your business, your ministry, all that hath to do with you into the hand of the Almighty God, and be at peace.
KNOW THIS:
When you commit the things you have, the things you are expecting unto the hand of the LORD, you can be assured that your thoughts will be established. Your expectations will not be cut off.
So, the best way to commit thy works unto the LORD is through prayers. By faith, believe that God will keep that which you have committed unto Him. And prayerfully seek His face; as Nehemiah did when he desired for help to go and rebuild the wall of Jerusalem that was broken, and the gates that were burnt with fire.
In Nehemiah chapter 1 verse 11, it says–
“O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.”
Nehemiah made up his mind to approach the king for support, for assistance and for release for him to go and fulfill the vision of God for his life.
Before approaching the king, …
He committed his adventure to the Hand of the LORD.
He committed his works to the LORD.
He committed his desire to the LORD, as we can see.
Nehemiah 2 verse 1, says –
“And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.”
Verse 2: “Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,”
You see, Nehemiah had committed his going to the king into the hand of the King of kings, into the hand of God. He had committed this unto the hand of the LORD. Of course, what he must have asked for, is for favor, for God to make this man to show him favor. Because as we know, ‘the heart of the king is in the Hand of the LORD, and as the rivers of water he turneth it wherever he willeth.’
So, when Nehemiah approached the king Artaxerxes, the king could see his countenance and knew that there was something wrong.
So, look at his reply in Nehemiah chapter 2 verse 3–
“And said unto the king, Let the king live forever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?”
Verse 4: “Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.”
He committed his going to the king in the Hand of the LORD. And when favour was about to be shown by the king asking him, what request do you make? He did not suddenly begin to make the request.
The Bible said in verse 4 – “So I prayed to the God of heaven.”
So, he still recommitted his request for help from the king to the King of kings. He committed it to the God of heaven, because he knows if God gives approval, the king cannot say no.
That is what the Scripture is encouraging us here– “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
So, Nehemiah committed his works to the LORD, and made request to the king, king Artaxerxes in that verse 5.
Verse 5: “ And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.”
Verse 6: “And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.”
Nehemiah knew where his help will come from. He committed his works unto the LORD, and his thought was established.
THINK ON THIS:
Do you know where your help will come from? If you know where your help will come from; … know that your help comes from God, … you will learn to commit thy works unto the LORD so that your thoughts will be established.
Job 5 verse 8 says–
“I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:”
Verse 9: “Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:”
Verse 10: “Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:”
Verse 11: “To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.”
So, know that God is the One who doeth great things; unsearchable, marvellous things that can never be quantified.
He knows how to lift the lowly high.
He knows how to keep people safe.
So, Nehemiah knew this, and purposed to commit his works unto the LORD.
THINK ON THIS:
How much are you committing your works unto the LORD?
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Don't be carried away by the thoughts.
Make sure that you commit thy works unto the LORD!
Psalm 37 verse 4 says–
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Verse 5: “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
That you are ready to commit thy works unto the LORD, shows that you trust God. It shows that you have faith in Him.
For you know it, that ‘without faith it is impossible to please God.’ That is: ‘those who come to God must come believing, that He is a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.’ [Ref: Hebrews 11:6].
So, learn to commit thy works unto the LORD, so thy thoughts shall be established.
The Bible says in Psalm chapter 55 verse 22–
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
Make it a responsibility, that every thought, every burden, every desire, that you will commit it to the LORD, that you will cast it upon the LORD.
Don't carry that load! Roll it to the LORD.
Let the LORD take care of it. He is ready to do it, if you are ready to surrender it.
That is why the Scripture encourages us in Matthew chapter 6 from verse 25. It says–
“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”
SO, …
I encourage you: Commit your life first unto the LORD, then you can now commit your works unto the LORD.
If you have not committed your life unto the LORD,
if you have not surrendered your life unto the LORD,
if you have not accepted what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross of Calvary,
I encourage you today: …
make a definite decision to receive Him and to believe Him who died for your sins on the cross of Calvary; who shed His blood for the remission of your sins.
So, learn to commit your life and commit your works unto Him! That is what the Scripture is encouraging us. Do it!!
It says –
“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”
So, if you have committed your life unto the LORD, commit your works unto Him. Do not worry! As you commit your works unto Him, unto the LORD, He will establish your thoughts.
It continues! In Matthew chapter 6 verse 26, it says –
“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”
Verse 27: “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”
So, “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Whatever concerns you, you don't need to waste your time worrying about them. Just commit thy works unto the LORD; He knows how to take care of all that you have committed unto Him.
That is why the Bible encourages us to … ‘Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let our requests be made known unto God.’ [Ref: Philippians 4:6].
So, …
Learn to commit your ways unto the LORD, and He will establish your thoughts: casting all your care upon Him.
Learn to cast all your care upon the LORD; for He careth for you.
If He could care about the lilies, the fowls of the air: how about you? You should know that the LORD cares about you. So, “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
You should know this, as the Scripture says in Isaiah 26 from verse 3. It says–
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Verse 4: “Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:”
So, …
learn to trust in the LORD, for He is your everlasting strength.
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
And as you do this, remain blessed in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
