Proverbs 8:6-7
“Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.”
Verse 7: For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.”
God wants you to live excellently and an excellent life for Him. And yes you can! By Jesus Christ who is the Wisdom of God; He is the power of God and The Word of God!
And Wisdom is speaking today for you to hear the wisdom that is from above, the wisdom that is from God, which is: ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory’.
THE EXCELLENCE OF THE WORD OF GOD !
It’s the word of deliverance, for the Psalmist said: “He sent forth His word, and healed them and delivered them from ALL their destructions.”
(Psalm 107:20)
Hear again what the scripture tells us about the excellence of the Word of God in Psalm 19 verse 11:
“Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”
Every word of God is excellent. As you hear the word of God, purpose to do it and live by it. There is great reward in keeping the word of God. And If you purpose to speak by it, you will see that you’ll be opening up your lips to speak right things. Your mouth shall speak truth; For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak; yes, By the truth of Wisdom - That’s how you can live an excellent life
THE EXCELLENCE OF GRACE & TRUTH
“The Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” the Lord and Savior of the world. (John 1:17)
So, the first principle is for you to accept what Jesus Christ did for you, for all mankind on the cross of Calvary which is that “ He became sin for you, paid the penalty of sin by dying for your sins so that you can become the righteousness of God” in Him.
Then only you can receive grace to do the truth of God’s word that will help you live in excellence and excellently for/unto God!! As it is written in John 1:12: “To as many as received Him, them He gave power to become the sons of God.” Yes; the excellent ones!!
To live an excellent life, I encourage you: you must always desire to hear, receive and speak excellent things that are based on the word of God: “For the LORD giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
I encourage you to Attend to the word of God; incline thine ear unto the sayings of the word of God, and the instruction of wisdom. “Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.” Keep the word of God, for it is life unto them that find it and keep it; and health to all their flesh. We are not to speak like the people of the world, we are not to speak according to the wisdom of the world that comes to nothing.
Proverbs 22, from verse 20-21 says that it is through the word of God that you’ll receive right counsels and knowledge; knowledge that is power
EXCELLENCE OF COUNSEL BY THE WORD
Excellence in life begins with Spiritual excellence. To attain Spiritual excellence, You must Attend to the word of God, incline thine ear unto the sayings of the word of God and, the instruction of wisdom.
“Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.” Keep the word of God, for it is life unto them that find it and keep it; and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:22)
People of excellence are/do not to speak like the people of the world; they are not to speak according to the wisdom of the world that comes to nothing.
From Proverbs 22 verses 20-21 we understand that it is through the word of God that you’ll receive right counsel and knowledge; knowledge that is power. It’s through the word of God that you’ll know how to keep faith and answer them that question your belief in Christ. It’s important for you to keep hearing the word of God; for ‘faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God’, so that your doing will be based on what the word of God says/instructs. And it is the (these) excellent things that will help you to remain the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; for the word of God is a sure word of prophecy.
EXCELLENCE OF GOD’S POWER
And as we receive this excellent thing from the LORD to live by the power of His word, we should also speak, so that many shall be converted to come to know the truth.
Paul writing to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 2:6 said:
“Howbeit we (the matured and empowered by God) speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:”
Verse 7: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
Verse 8: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
So, we have this wisdom that has been revealed to us by God through His Son Jesus Christ; the wisdom that helps us to yield ourselves to be led by the Spirit of God. And we are able to speak this wisdom, as Colossians 1:26-27 says -
“ Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
This wisdom has been made manifest to us through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Verse 27:
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY
So, as a child of God, as a saint of God, as those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, we have now become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; so, we should speak the truth. We should continue to live a sanctified life, through obedience to the word of God; because the word of God is truth. Jesus is the Word, and the Word is truth; and He came to bear witness of this truth.
So, we that have received this truth, should continue to live a true life in Christ, that is based on the word of God; and we should continue to bear witness of the truth.
Let wickedness be an abomination to our lips; as the Scripture says in Proverbs 12 verse 22:
“Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
So, purpose to continue to deal truly. As you have received this truth, live in the truth of the word of God, and deal truly. If you have not yet received this truth; that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, purpose today to receive it. That’s the only way you can deal truly; and that’s the only way that lying lips will become abomination in your lips. Don’t make yourself an abomination to the LORD. But rather, deal truly, and you will be a delight; and the LORD will delight in you. “For the LORD giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
As you do it, remain blessed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
