PROVERBS 15:25.
“The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
REMEMBER
“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
The proud is a self-conceited man who thinks he knows it all.
He thinks he can do things without approval of the LORD.
He is full of himself.
When he is building, he is building in vain because God is not in his thoughts.
So, “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
The Scripture tells us expressly: ‘Through wisdom a house is builded.’
In Proverbs 24:3 - 4 It says –
“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
You can't build without the wisdom of God! So, unless the LORD establishes you, unless the foundation is of the LORD, what you are building is in vain.
Thus written, the LORD will destroy the house of the proud– i.e. those who are building without God in their thoughts, and without the standard of the word of God.
But God will establish even the helpless that puts his trust in the LORD.
That is what he is telling us !
Proverbs 15:25 again says – “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
God gives strength to those who do not have strength.
He gives strength to those who put their trust in Him.
Don't pride yourself in what you are doing without God! If God is not in what you are doing, … that house, that your doing, will come to nothing.
For “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
Proverbs 12 verse 7 says –
“The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.”
As long as that foundation is of the LORD; … the LORD will establish you. He will make you to stand firm! Anything outside this will fail overtime; For no foundation can any man lay, except that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus,)
But the wicked, the proud, the fool’s house will be overthrown.
Learn to put your trust in the LORD; … for “the house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.” [Ref: Proverbs 14:11].
Watch the man who has made God his trust, and is abiding in the word of God, … even in old age, he will flourish. That is what God has purposed for those who put their trust in Him.
But the proud, the LORD will destroy …; He will overthrow their house.
Don't put your trust in things that cannot stand the test of time. Put your trust in the LORD!
Psalm 52 says–
“Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.”
Verse 2, it says–
“Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully.”
Verse 3: “Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. [Selah.]”
Verse 4: “Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.”
Verse 5: “God shall likewise destroy thee forever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. [Selah.]”
Verse 6: “The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:”
Verse 7: “Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
When you trust in yourself and you are proud, you are sowing a seed of falling, you are sowing a seed that will lead to your failure. “For God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” [Ref: 1 Peter 5:5].
KNOW IT -
“The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
Isaiah chapter 2 verse 10 says this; (it says) –
“Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.”
Verse 11: “The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.”
The proud shall be brought low: but those who humble themselves in the hand of the Almighty God shall be lifted up in due time. For the LORD will destroy the house of the proud. It will come to pass!
And that is why: …
You should not play with your salvation.
You should not play with what God is doing.
Purpose to live righteously.
Purpose to live in the word of God.
It doesn't matter the position you are occupying, know it that every authority is from God. If God did not allow it, you will not be in that position.
So, …
Don't pride in yourself and begin to lift yourself above he who gave you that authority!
Don’t sow seed of destruction for yourself!!
See what happened to Nebuchadnezzar and what the Scripture says. In Daniel chapter 5 from verse 20, it says–
“But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:”
Verse 21: “And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.”
Don't wait until you are humbled before you know to humble yourself in the hand of the Almighty God.
Don’t wait until you are humiliated before you know how to humble yourself in the hand of the Almighty God.
For “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
Learn to yield yourself to the word of God!
Luke chapter 1 verse 51 says this:
“He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.”
God knows how to destroy the proud. He knows how to scatter them in the imagination of their hearts. But He gives strength to those who trust Him.
It continues in that Luke chapter 1 verse 52. It says–
“He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.”
God has the ability to raise you beyond what you can think, as long as you purpose to walk in humility. Pride Will Destroy You!
Don't learn the way of the foolish!
Don't be proud!! For “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
Deuteronomy chapter 10 from verse 17, it says–
“For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:”
Verse 18: “He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.”
★ Our God is a loving God.
★ He is a kind God
★ He is a merciful God.
★ He knows how to help the helpless.
★ He knows how to give hope to the hopeless.
PONDER ON THESE:
Who made you what you are?
And who allowed you to be alive and to be occupying that position?
That should make you to live in humility knowing fully well, that God can scatter the proud in their imaginations.
Knowing that the LORD will destroy the house of the proud – both their tabernacles and the physical houses: ‘but He will establish the border of the widow.’ …. For God is the Father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows.
As Psalm 68 verse 5 tells us–
“A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.”
Verse 6: “God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”
So, …
Don't walk in rebellion!
Don’t walk against the word of God!!
Be humble!!! … knowing fully well that “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
It was pride that made Satan to try to exalt himself above God, or above the throne of God. And he was cast down. The same way, anybody operating in this manner will be thrown down. At the end, you will not find peace.
So, …
Don't operate in the attribute of Satan!
Humble yourself!!
Jesus taught us humility; that despite being God, He humbled Himself and died the worst kind of death, even on the cross.
KNOW IT:
that “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.”
“The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.” As Psalms 146 verse 9 tells us.
So, I encourage you:
❖ Receive the word of God and remain in humility!
❖ As you remain in humility, walking in humility– the LORD will exalt you in due time!!
❖ Resist everything that will make you to walk in pride!!!
And as you do, May you remain blessed in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
