STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in
THE BIBLE – The Bible is the eternal, authoritative, infallible, incorruptible, word of God through which a Christian knows the mind (will) of God for him. The word of God is truth (John 17:17) and its truth is timeless! All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The central theme and purpose of the Sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament of the Bible is Jesus and the salvation of men. No prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation. (2 Peter 1:19-21) The Bible is superior to conscience and reason. Heeding it as a light that shines in a dark place, a man can and will always reason aright;
THE GODHEAD – We believe There is only one True God (Deuteronomy 6:4-6) revealed as the eternally self-existent self-sufficient “I AM”; but manifested in Three Persons: The Father, The Son (Jesus Christ) and The Holy Spirit (Gen.1:16-28; Matt.3:16-17; Matthew 28:19); all being co-equal (Philipians.2:6-11; Isaiah. 43:10-13).
JESUS CHRIST - Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father; the Word that became flesh and dwelt among men. Grace and truth came from Him and of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. (John1:1-18) We believe in His deity, in His virgin birth, His sinless life and perfect obedience, His miracles, His atoning death through His shed blood, in His resurrection and ascension to the Father’s right hand. And He ever lives to make intercession for the saints.
THE HOLY SPIRIT – He is the Spirit of God; the Teacher, Comforter, the Helper and Spirit of Truth who teaches all things and brings all things to man’s remembrance (John 14: 25-26), and glorifies Jesus. The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in man enables the Christian to live godly and revived, endows him with spiritual gifts and empowers him (1 Cor.12:7;Acts 1:8)
THE CHURCH – Jesus by saying that He will be “where two or three are gathered together in His name” (Matt.18:20) Divinely instituted the standard for the gathering to be called “the church of the living God”. Church is the assembly and assembling of born-again believers together; the dwelling place of God in the Spirit, Jesus Christ Himself being its chief cornerstone. (Heb.10:25;Ephesians 2:20-22) Christ is the head of the church, and the church being the body of Christ is subject to Christ and cannot stand divided from Christ. Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25-27). As the pillar and ground of the truth (1Timothy 3:15), we believe in its function today to strengthen and encourage the believers.
MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION – Man is a created being,(Gen.2:7) made good and upright in the likeness and image of God and having God-given dominion over all His creations.(Genesis 1:26-31); but who, through Adam’s transgression and fall, by which sin came into the world, (Genesis 3:1-15) is born in sin. And it is as written : “There is no difference: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:23). The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23;John 3:16) Man’s only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, for without the shedding of His blood there is no remission of man’s sin (Hebrews 9:22, 10:26-31; Galatians 3:13-14).
REPENTANCE UNTO GOD – Repentance is man’s godly sorrow for his sins (2 Corinthians 7:8-10). God commands it (Acts 17:30) Repentance is toward God, not man. Because sin is a spiritual attitude of disobedience, wrong choices and rebellion towards God (Romans 3:10-20) needing pardon, blotting, reconciliation with God and healing (Acts 3:19), It is not to be regretted, for a man in this fallen state cannot approach God or save himself and therefore needs a Savior, Jesus. Repentance is man’s first step towards salvation and must go with a decision to . . . “sin no more” (John 5:14, 8:11) to be complete. God commands it (Acts 17:30). We believe it must be preached! (Luke 24:47).
SALVATION – Salvation is deliverance and preservation from destruction and perishing. It is God’s greatest gift to man.(John 3:16) It is separate from and not of works, neither the law. Salvation is only in and through Jesus Christ: the only name under heaven given among mankind by which men might be saved (Acts 4:12). To appropriate Salvation, one must acknowledge his/her sins and repent from them; believe Jesus died and rose again. One must confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth, confession of Jesus Christ as Lord is made unto salvation (Romans 10:6-13).
NEW BIRTH AND ETERNAL LIFE – Jesus in (John 3:3-5) demands and states : “You must be born again.” This new birth (new creation) and regeneration work is by the Holy Spirit. It is the inward evidence of salvation and the appearance of God’s grace to man whereby he is cleansed, absolved from all sin and made “able to stand as righteous before God and as though he had never sinned’’. The experience is a necessity for all men (2 Corinthians 5:16-17), in order to be given the right to become the children of God and have eternal life (John1:10-13; 1John 5:11-13).
WATER BAPTISM – Baptism in water by immersion is a direct commandment of our Lord (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; John 3:5, Acts 2:38). It is for Believers only as a mark of repentance, ‘’fulfilling all righteousness’’.
HOLY GHOST BAPTISM – This is the Baptism in the Holy Ghost and Fire (Matthew 3:11); “. . . the Promise of the Father. . .’’ (Luke 24:29; Acts 1:4,8); an infilling and gift of God which the Lord promised each believer in our times would receive sequel to the new birth.
SANCTIFICATION – Sanctification is yet another grace of God by which the believer having being regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and now has the mind of Christ , is completely cleansed having his conscience purged of sin by the Blood of Jesus. Now, being obedient to the Word and empowered by the Holy Ghost, sets himself apart for the Lord and for His use by presenting his body a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to the Lord (Romans 12:1-2).
COMMUNION – Is a Sacrament which Jesus instituted (Luke 22:19, Mark 14:22) and commanded that every true believer / disciple must partake of. This we should do often to keep us in remembrance that Christ died for us - His body broken for us and His Blood shed for the remission of our sins.
EVANGELISM MINISTRY – The Lord Jesus Christ left us a Divine Assignment to ‘’Go. . . into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. . . ‘’ with a Great Commission and with a divine backing saying : “Lo, I am with you always to the end of the age.” This ministry is to reach the unreached (Eph. 4:11-13; Mark 16:15-20, Matthew 28:18-20).
RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND RETURN OF OUR LORD – Jesus Christ shall return in great Glory and Power (Luke 21:27); just as He was seen ascending up to heaven (Matthew 24:44; Acts 1:11). His coming is at hand! (Heb. 10:25, Rev. 22:12).
THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST – Following the Tribulation, Jesus Christ, as King of kings and Lord of lords, will set up His kingdom here on earth to reign for one thousand years; together with His Saints who shall be kings and priests.
HELL AND ETERNAL PUNISHMENT – Jesus in (John 5:28-29) said clearly: “. . . for the hour is coming in which all . . . will come forth – those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation’’. Hell and eternal punishment are real (Matthew. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48).
THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH – We according to His promise, look for a new heaven and the new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness (Revelation 21:1-27).
